During Climate Week Zurich on 5–6 May, Carbon Centric took part in a series of events on the CDR pilots under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement and international cooperation on scaling carbon removal.
The events brought together governments, buyers, suppliers and experts to discuss what it will take to further develop carbon removal under the Article 6 mechanisms. Engagement was strong from all sides of the market.
Carbon Centric is part of the pilot agreement between Norway and Switzerland, together with partners Climeworks, IWB Industrielle Werke Basel and the City of Zurich. The pilot enables trading in internationally transferred mitigation outcomes (ITMOs) and is among the very first of its kind globally.
Carbon Centric's contribution is the delivery of carbon removal certificates from the BECCS project at Kirkenær once the facility is in operation.
