We are capturing CO2
right now.

Carbon Centric operates Norway's first full-scale carbon capture plant from waste and captures CO₂ right now.

From flue gas to permanent storage

We build, own and operate plants that capture CO₂ from waste and biomass. From our storage projects we sell verified carbon removal in the form of CDR certificates: one certificate is one tonne of CO₂ removed from the atmosphere and stored permanently.

Build Own Operate

We build, own and operate the capture plant ourselves, in partnership with the site owner who supplies the flue gas. No middlemen, full control over quality and operations, across the whole portfolio.

Capture CO₂

We use an amine-based solvent to absorb CO₂ from the flue gas at the Rakkestad waste-to-energy plant. Capacity: 10,000 tonnes per year.

Verify

Every tonne of CO₂ is measured, reported and verified by independent third parties, with full traceability through the whole chain to use or permanent storage, depending on the project.

Sell carbon removal

Businesses and individuals buy CDR certificates directly from us. Today as agreements for future delivery from Kirkenær, with the certificate issued once the CO₂ has actually been captured, stored and verified.

Rakkestad-anlegget

Our next facility stores the CO₂ for good.

Today, some of the CO₂ we capture is used industrially. Kirkenær, our next facility, is built to store it permanently underground instead, and independent auditors confirm that it actually happens.

Don't take our word for it

Every tonne of CO₂ we capture is measured by calibrated sensors and reported in real time. Before we issue a CDR certificate, an independent third party must have checked the tonne, so the numbers can be verified by anyone.

450+
Sensors monitor the plant in real time. CO₂ concentration, temperature, pressure and flow rate are logged continuously.
3rd party
An independent auditor must verify every tonne before a CDR certificate is issued. No one can buy a certificate from us that has not been verified.
1,000+ years
This is how our storage projects are designed: CO₂ is pumped into porous sandstone deep beneath the seabed and held in place by a dense layer of shale, the same way oil and gas have sat there for millions of years. Over time it also dissolves into the brine in the formation. Recognised methodologies require documented storage for at least 1,000 years.

«At KLP, we recognise that real progress in climate action requires collaboration. By partnering with Carbon Centric, we support the development of carbon removal projects and drive meaningful climate action.»

From capture to tanker, the same day.

At Rakkestad, the CO₂ is purified to food-grade quality and loaded straight onto a tanker for Linde Gas AS, which distributes it on for industrial use.
