The EU's Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming certification framework (CRCF) is taking shape, and Carbon Centric is following the development closely where the decisions are made.
In Brussels, Carbon Removal Advisor Rebecka Kalnes attended CRCF Days on 20 May, organised by the European Commission. The programme provided insight into the latest developments in the CRCF regulation and the EU's Buyers' Club, as well as perspectives from a wide range of players working on the future of carbon removal in Europe.
In Oslo on 21 May, Kalnes took part in a panel at Nordic Roundtables Norway, organised by Nefco (the Nordic Green Bank) together with the Climate Leadership Coalition and Skift – Business Climate Leaders. The topic was the future of carbon markets, particularly under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, and what is required to scale the market.
“Integrity and quality are the foundation of the carbon removal market. We are happy to share how we work on this in our projects,” says Rebecka Kalnes.
A well-functioning European regulatory framework is important for Carbon Centric's projects, which will deliver certified, permanent carbon removals from biogenic sources.
