The carbon capture plant in Rakkestad has become a showcase for anyone considering carbon capture – this spring, Carbon Centric welcomed visitors from Norway and abroad.
Together with Østfold Energi, Carbon Centric hosted a tour of Rakkestad on 18 March for participants at Sirk Norge's waste-to-energy seminar. The delegation represented the breadth of the Norwegian energy recovery industry and saw both the waste-to-energy plant and the carbon capture plant, with good questions and discussions along the way.
Later in the spring, Carbon Centric welcomed a delegation from the Dutch industry association ChemistryNL, facilitated by the Embassy of the Netherlands to Norway and Iceland. Chief Commercial Officer Kenneth Juul and Commercial Manager Espen Skaar shared experience from day-to-day CCU operations in Rakkestad and the company's portfolio approach to BECCS, including upcoming investment decisions and growth ambitions. The group also shared insight into initiatives in the Netherlands.
The aim of the visits is knowledge sharing – and to inspire more players to get started with carbon capture as quickly as possible.
