Carbon Centric receives Sarpsborg Municipality's Climate Award 2026

On Wednesday 23 September, Carbon Centric received Sarpsborg Municipality's Climate Award for 2026. The award was presented by jury chair Bjørn Lande of Sarpsborg Municipality at the Sarpsborg Conference 2026, and was accepted by Fredrik Häger (CEO) and Kenneth Juul (CCO) on behalf of the company.

The jury gave the following reasons for the award:

“Carbon Centric receives the climate award for its dedicated work on developing solutions that contribute to reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Through the development and establishment of solutions for capturing and storing CO₂, the company contributes to the development of new green technology. Carbon Centric shows how local innovation and forward-looking business development can deliver concrete climate impact.”

Recognition for the work in practice

Carbon Centric is headquartered in Sarpsborg and develops, owns and operates carbon capture facilities for industrial and energy companies in the Nordics. The company sees the award as recognition of both the team's efforts and the partners and customers who make it possible to realise carbon capture in practice.

Mayor Magnus Arnesen opened the Sarpsborg Conference 2026, where the climate award was presented.

Sarpsborg Municipality's Climate Award is presented annually to organisations or individuals who have made a special effort for the climate and environment in the municipality. The award was presented in collaboration with Sarpsborg Næringsforening (the Sarpsborg business association), represented by managing director Mariann Karlsen. Mayor Magnus Arnesen signed the diploma together with the jury chair.
