Kirkenær is a BECCS project in collaboration with Solør Bioenergi at their combined heat and power facility in Kirkenær. The plant burns non-recyclable wood chips, and Carbon Centric will capture the biogenic CO₂, up to 30,000 tonnes per year. Received Enova funding in spring 2025 and passed Puro.earth's Preliminary Assessment in March 2026. Kirkenær is the first project we sell CDR certificates from, through offtake agreements and pre-purchases, with delivery once the plant is operating. Planned start-up 2028.
