Carbon Centric’s Rakkestad CO₂ capture plant is now certified for the production of food grade carbon dioxide, with independently verified purity above 99.99 percent.
Carbon Centric is proud to announce that our CO₂ capture plant in Rakkestad has been certified according to FSSC 22000 by DNV. The certification confirms that the facility meets international food safety standards and is approved for the production of carbon dioxide used as a food ingredient.
In addition to the certification, our CO₂ has been independently tested by external laboratories. The results confirm exceptional quality, with purity exceeding 99.99 percent. This means we are now producing true food grade CO₂ that meets strict beverage grade specifications, with full traceability and safety.
This is an important milestone for Carbon Centric and a strong validation of the work delivered by our team. We are extremely proud of the Food Safety team and the entire Carbon Centric organisation for their dedication and professionalism.
The high quality of our CO₂ is also very promising for future storage applications and e-fuel production, where high-purity CO₂ is a critical requirement. The operational experience and robust quality systems established in Rakkestad will support our ambition to grow into a large-scale CO₂ player in the Nordics and beyond.
