Terms and conditions

These terms apply to purchases of CO₂ storage commitments via carboncentric.no. The seller is Carbon Centric AS, company registration no. 927 461 137, Kalnesveien 5, 1712 Grålum, Norway ("Carbon Centric", "we"). These terms apply in addition to, and take precedence over, the website’s general terms of use in case of conflict.

You are purchasing a contractual commitment from Carbon Centric that a specified quantity of CO₂ ("the Quantity"), captured at the Kirkenær project (under development, planned start-up 2028), will be permanently and geologically stored. The exact storage operator has not been finalised. This does not concern the Rakkestad facility, which today operates as CCU (industrial use of captured CO₂, without storage). This is not a purchase of an already-issued, registered certificate, nor a claim that the Quantity is already stored at the time of purchase.

Progress towards actual storage is tracked and verified through a recognised third-party certification methodology. Kirkenær has passed Puro.earth's Preliminary Assessment, though Puro will not necessarily remain the only standard. See our "What you are buying" page for a full explanation.

The price is €500 per tonne of CO₂, excluding VAT. Payment is made at the time of order via card or Vipps, processed by our payment provider Stripe. We never store your card details ourselves.

The agreed delivery deadline is stated in your order confirmation. If Carbon Centric has not fulfilled the commitment for the Quantity by the deadline, an automatic extension of up to one year is granted before further action is considered.

If the commitment remains unfulfilled after the extension, you are entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for the undelivered portion.

You have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the order date, in accordance with the Norwegian Right of Withdrawal Act. No reason is required. Notify us at post@carboncentric.no within the deadline, and we will refund the full amount within 14 days of receiving your notice.

The right of withdrawal applies in full because the commitment is, by definition, not fulfilled at the time of purchase.

Carbon Centric's total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid for the relevant Quantity. This does not apply to liability for gross negligence or intent, which cannot be limited under Norwegian law.

Public statements about your purchase — for example claiming you have "offset" or "neutralised" emissions — should reflect what has actually been delivered at the time of the statement. Feel free to contact us if you are unsure of the correct wording.

The purchase is personal and may not be resold or transferred to others without our written consent.

We process your personal data in accordance with our privacy policy.

These terms are governed by Norwegian law, with Nedre Østfold District Court as the agreed venue.
